Queen Elizabeth II yesterday Wednesday, September 9, 2015, became Britain’s longest-reigning monarch.
The 89-year-old as at yesterday had been on the throne for 63 years, 216 days, (total of 23,226 days), 16 hours and approximately 30 minutes as at 5.30pm yesterday.

The Queen thanked well-wishers at home and overseas for their “touching messages of kindness” adding that the title was “not one to which I have ever aspired”.
“Inevitably a long life can pass by many milestones – my own is no exception – but I thank you all and the many others at home and overseas for your touching messages of great kindness,” she added.
