Designer Oscar de la Renta's Private Funeral

Celebrities, politicians and the fashion world yesterday mourned Oscar De La Renta, one of its greatest designers, with a private funeral that held in New York City at The Church of St. Ignatius Loyola in Manhattan.

The tall Dominican-born de la Renta dressed New York socialites, Hollywood stars and American first ladies during a career that spanned five decades. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2006, died last month at 82 but the cause of his death has yet to be released.

His private funeral was attended by a mix of designers, fashion editors, photographers, actors and former US Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and Hillary Clinton. Among guests were also Mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg, Valentino Garavani, Diane von Furstenberg, Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang, Donna Karan, Mike Nichols, Diane Sawyer, Barbara Walters, Annie Leibovitz, Julio Iglesias, Matthew Broderick and Hugh Jackman
